Motion to Suppress

This motion is typically made well in advance of a trial. It requests that certain evidence is excluded from the trial. If this is won, the case may be dismissed. This is often seen in courtroom dramas or documentaries. Certain evidence may be kept out of the trial, or away from the jury, because it is not relevant, has been tampered with, or is in some other way not appropriate for court.
