Although MyCase claims to be an “all-in-one” solution, many of the features rely heavily on third-party integrations. For example, payments are processed through LawPay, and document automation is handled by Woodpecker. While these integrations may be useful, it’s important to note that they come with additional monthly subscriptions and expenses. Additionally, some users have expressed difficulty in setting up these integrations.

MyCase’s task management system allows for users to branch workflows based on completion of another tasks, however, it lacks the ability to create conditional workflows based on different outcomes. As a result, users need to spend extra time to create multiple workflows to manage their operations efficiently.

MyCase offers its users the ability to apply custom tags to documents only. However, MyCase does not support the use of custom tags for matters or contacts. This means that while users can easily tag documents based on the case type, they cannot tag a matter or a contact with a custom label. This limitation can make it difficult to track and organize matters or contacts in a customized way.

MyCase integrates with LawPay, however, its transaction fees can be complex. LawPay charges 2.95% + $0.20 per transaction for Visa, Mastercard & Discover, 3.75% + $0.20 for American Express, 1% with a $10 maximum for eChecks, and 4.95% for ClientCredit. Additional card brand fees may apply.

MyCase offers a limited two-way business texting feature. While users can send appointment reminders, images, and unpaid invoice reminders, there are restrictions on sending documents for eSignature requests and payment links.

MyCase's client portal has limitations in providing clients with a complete overview of their case status. The absence of real-time updates on actionable items has hindered the progress of cases and left clients uninformed about the status of their case and assigned tasks. As a result, clients are unable to stay up-to-date on the progress of their case, which can lead to frustration and confusion.

MyCase presents a range of pricing options with three distinct plans, yet accessing additional features or integrating with third-party tools may incur additional costs, potentially driving up the overall price for a comprehensive law practice management solution.

Not to mention MyCase has increased their price twice in the past two years.
